8 Of The Most Charming Towns In North Dakota

    All Dew News

A diverse Upper Midwestern landlocked stateNorth Dakota is acclaimed for its wide-ranging flatlands dominated by rolling prairies, badlands, farmlands, grassland plains, and temperate savanna. Boasting a strong heritage shaped by the miscellaneous Native American tribes who inhabited the region for thousands of years and the earnestness of the American pioneers, the Peace Garden State amazingly blends the retro charm with the friendly hospitality of the residents. Notwithstanding the fact that the state capital, Bismarck, and Fargo – the biggest city account for almost one-fifth of North Dakota’s entire populace, the Roughrider State is not frequented much by vacationers compared to its neighboring states. The countless charming small towns sprinkled all over the Flickertail State are waiting to captivate the hearts of holidayers who wish to spend quality time on their next vacation to this ‘Heaven on Earth.’

This seat of southeast-central North Dakota’s Stutsman County is situated at the meeting of Pipestem Creek and James River, nearly midway betwixt Fargo and Bismarck. Baptized by the Northern Pacific Railway’s General Thomas Rosser after Jamestown, Virginia, the town houses the main campus of the University of Jamestown – a private Christian university founded in 1883 and has been co-educational since then. The Frontier Village, located in the town’s southeastern end, features umpteen restored ancient structures, a museum filled with native history exhibits, and an American bison statue – believed to be the ‘World’s Largest Buffalo Monument.’ The Jamestown Reservoir at the town’s northern extremity offers abundant water-based recreation, while other attractions like the North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame, Jamestown Arts Center, Jamestown Civic Center, National Buffalo Museum, and two world-class disc golf courses are not to be missed.

Bishop  Olukayode Michael Adesua Delivers Transformative Sermon on “Fear, Redemption and Faith”

*Sunday News Report: Cornerstone New Life Church Celebrates Faith and Resilience with Bishop Adesua

    Date: February 23, 2025
Venue: Cornerstone New Life Church, Sijuwade Road*

This past Sunday, the Cornerstone New Life Church welcomed both members and non-members to a powerful service led by its esteemed founder, Bishop Olukayode Micheal Adesua. The atmosphere was charged with positivity as congregants gathered to partake in a message centered on the theme “Fear Not.”

Bishop Adesua opened the service with a warm welcome, encouraging attendees to embrace the spirit of community and faith. He emphasized the importance of self-reflection, stating, “Knowing your usefulness, make yourself holy,” and questioned, “Are you accepted by God?” Drawing from Romans 12:1-2, he urged the congregation to see themselves as living sacrifices dedicated to fulfilling God’s will.

“You are a grassroots,” Bishop Adesua continued, urging everyone to stay on the right path. “Use yourself as a living sacrifice, holy to fulfill God’s will in your life.” He highlighted the significance of personal righteousness, reminding the congregation that unanswered prayers could often trace back to one’s own unrighteousness. “Don’t join the counsel of the wicked and the ungodly. Follow the word of God. Convert yourself to a new leaf—redemption. Seek God’s steadfast love and become righteous,” he instructed.

In a poignant moment, the Bishop elaborated on the concept of the “Cloud of Witness,” understood as the Holy Spirit. This concept represents the examples of faith embodied by figures from the Bible such as Abraham, Enoch, and Noah. Referencing Hebrews 11:4-19, he stated, “You shall have Christ. Put your doing unto God, and it shall be fulfilled. Therefore, be patient in all your doing.” He reminded the congregation, “God is the author and the finisher of our faith,” stressing the power of patience and perseverance.

Bishop Adesua also addressed the emotional resonance of familial loss, stating, “Christ resurrected, but your earthly father cannot resurrect. You should only remember the good memories of your earthly father.” He encouraged the congregation to look to the Cloud of Witness as models of faith, emphasizing, “Through faith, Enoch’s situation was reversed.”

As the service unfolded, Bishop Adesua’s teachings struck a chord with many, igniting discussions on the importance of living in accordance with divine principles and seeking renewal in one’s faith.

Dele Farotimi Opens Up On Sending Peter Obi To Beg Afe Babalola On His Behalf

    Published

    on 16 December 2024

    at 5:49 AM

By Miss Runsewe Akinola Mary Ayomide

    Kindly share this story:

PDP Chieftain, Showunmi, Hails Peter Obi's Visit To Afe Babalola

A lawyer representing human rights activist and legal practitioner Dele Farotimi, Tope Temokun, has refuted claims that his client sent former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to appeal to the octogenarian legal icon, Afe Babalola, regarding an alleged defamation suit.

Naija News reports that Temokun clarified this during an appearance on the Sunday edition of Inside Sources with Laolu Akande, a socio-political programme on Channels Television.

In early December, Farotimi was arrested by the Ekiti State police at his Lagos office and transported to Ekiti State for prosecution. The charges stem from his book, Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System, in which he accused Afe Babalola of judicial corruption and procuring a revised Supreme Court judgement.

Farotimi pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently remanded in prison for two weeks as legal proceedings unfold. He also faces related charges in Abuja and Oyo State.

Temokun, who visited Farotimi in prison on Friday, said the activist denied sending Peter Obi to seek an out-of-court settlement with Babalola.

Temokun added that Farotimi remains in high spirits and is optimistic about overcoming the legal challenges he currently faces in court.

He stated: “I visited Mr. Dele Farotimi in a correctional service in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State yesterday afternoon.

“The events of the recent days; the visit of Mr. Peter Obi, the (2023) presidential candidate of the Labour Party, to Aare Afe Babalola, his visit to Mr. Dele Farotimi, created some lack of clarity. People are not so clear about some things, people are not clear about what is going on. It is on the basis of this that I had to visit him yesterday, and we sat together and had a good discussion.

“After Peter Obi left Ekiti, the news that filtered the town to the issue of the conditions for release, the issue of apology, the issue of whether Mr. Dele Farotimi is able to do this or that to come out.

“I told him (Farotimi): the reason why I am here is to confirm from you, ‘What do you think should be done?’ The visit of Mr. Peter Obi to you in person and the subsequent visit to Aare Afe Babalola, what do you know about it? What is your message to Aare Afe Babalola? What is your message to the people outside? What is also your message to me as part of your legal team?

“He (Farotimi) said if anybody who is very familiar with his antecedents, with his principles, with his philosophy over time should join anybody to believe that in a matter where he had written a book that he had published and that had been in circulation, that if anybody, somebody who has a brain should join others to believe that he has sent anybody to beg anybody, he said he will be so disappointed in that person.

“He told me categorically that even you, Tope, if you join anybody to believe that I could beg anybody or that I have sent anybody to beg anybody, I will be so disappointed in you.”

    Travel
With the gig being in a city just over an hour away, we left with plenty of time. Thank God we did because the state of roadworks in Birmingham at the moment is enough to drive anyone mad!

We finally pulled up to a completely different car park than intended. This happened a full hour later than planned. As a result, we were severely limited in leisure time before the gig.

    Venue
The 02 Institute isn’t a venue I was lucky enough to go to before. With a 2,400-person capacity, it has charm. More importantly, you feel connected to the artists regardless of where you are in the auditorium.

We didn’t have long to wait outside. The bag searches were quick. Ticket scanning was the smoothest of any event I have ever been to. We had unreserved balcony seating and unfortunately didn’t arrive early enough to get a seat. We did, however, get a straight-on view with something to lean on, so we were happy enough!

    Merchandise
To my surprise, the merch stand was remarkably small. It consisted of only 2 t-shirts to pick from and a jumper. As a gentleman of a slightly rounder persuasion, I found the largest size of 2XL unfortunately wasn’t big enough. So, I passed on the chance to buy anything.

What shocked me the most was that there were zero albums, CDs, and vinyl on sale. Especially as this tour was marking Gavin DeGraw’s debut album hitting 20 years and there being a special re-release.

    Warm Up Act
When we last saw Gavin DeGraw in Belfast he didn’t have any support at all. We wholeheartedly welcome the change this time. On this occasion we were treated to the songs by the talented Natalie Shay.

As a warm-up act, you couldn’t ask for more. Fresh off a flight from America, she told the crowd she hadn’t slept for what seemed like ages. You really couldn’t tell.

From the moment she skipped onto the stage, it was upbeat, infectious energy all around. I’ve personally never known anyone to have so many songs about exes or ex-best friends. Yet, she still manages to make the mood so positive. Rather annoyingly, our favorite song “Vape & Alcohol” isn’t yet on Spotify.

From the first hair swish, we were listening intently to every word. The twin acoustic guitars during her set piqued our interest. We were so intrigued that we reached out to her after the show. There might be an interview in the future, so keep your eye out for that.

Natalie Shay – Like You Boy (All Rights Are Retained By Natalie Shay)
    Gavin DeGraw
If you’re not familiar with Gavin DeGraw’s work, then where have you been? He is a multi-platinum singer-songwriter. If we were to classify his music, it would be somewhere between blues rock and pop-rock. That’s just perfect for us!

We enjoyed nearly 2 hours of his greatest hits. He showcased his tremendous vocal range. He also displayed his skills on the keyboard and acoustic guitar. Accompanying him onstage was a full band: a keyboardist, guitarist, bassist, and drummer. This gave even his more pop-like hits a rock edge that we loved.

I did manage to pop to the toilet just as he was coming on (awful timing)! Luckily, I didn’t miss a second of the music. His set included nearly 24 songs, spread fairly evenly across his 7 studio albums. This gave us and the rest of the captivated crowd a real treat.

Gavin DeGraw – We Belong Together (All Rights Are Retained By Gavin DeGraw)
The crowd was absolutely fantastic all night. They sang and interacted the entire way through. This clearly pleased Gavin and his band, with them repeatedly thanking the audience for their participation. The standing ovation at the end spoke volumes. We thought the whole night was much better than our previous experience.

We went to see him partly because his song “More Than Anyone” was me and my wife’s first dance song. This created a lovely moment that I will personally never forget. If you are reading this DF I love you so much.

A few Welsh women managed to get into a wristband only seating area. They did this by sweet talking the photographer. They had previously been refused entry by the security guard. They talked about it pretty much all night. Eventually, their dream came true when the photographer returned with enough wristbands for them all. None for us though which was a shame! I must not be his type.

Gavin DeGraw – More Than Anyone (All Rights Are Retained By Gavin DeGraw)
What I noticed most was that I wasn’t remotely getting tired at this gig. He could have played every single one of his songs, and I would have stayed. Towards the end of the night, he surprised the crowd with a rendition of “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath. Since it was a Birmingham-based crowd, it made the whole room go crazy!

As the night began to end, there were a few murmurs in the crowd. They talked about him not playing his biggest hit “I Don’t Want to Be.” This amused him. He quipped, “People have hopefully come to see more than just one song.” The entire room filled with laughter. After playing “Soldier,” he dedicated it to everyone in the room. He also dedicated it to those who had come with him. He finally gave the impatient crowd what they were looking forward to.

Gavin DeGraw – I Don’t Want To Be (All Rights Are Retained By Gavin DeGraw)
There is something truly magical about having the whole room singing along. This was the first song I ever heard by Gavin DeGraw. It also happens to be the theme tune to my favorite TV show, which helps too!

The night was finally over. The band bowed to the loving crowd. We took the walk back to the car with a hop in our step. What an evening it had been. We will 100% be seeing him again, I imagine, many more times. That is a belief I will always hold.
